What you'll learn
- The international legal framework of oceans management and operations at sea.
- The construction, design, engineering and ship-board equipment requirements along with documentation procedures for vessels engaged in international voyages. Manning and training will be discussed in a later module.
- Navigation, Voyage Planning, and Cargo Handling regulations in international law and convention.
- Manning and training under the various codes, in particular STCW.
- Awareness of high seas activities which are criminalised under international law. The basics of vessel safety requirements and ship and port security awareness, and then elucidate the complex legal regime concerning the embarkation, employment, and disembarkation of armed maritime security teams.
