Communicating with Confidence
Dering’s Communicating with Confidence course is designed to build upon your existing communication strengths and to improve your skills in a variety of settings. Whether in face-to-face interactions with co-workers, formal presentations, or everyday interactions with customers, the ability to “sell” ideas and engage others is invaluable. Communicating with Confidence will examine the communication process model and investigate the environmental, organizational, and psychological factors that influence communications. Communicating with Confidence includes hands-on exercises that help communicators build rapport and ensure understanding. Participants will define their preferred "social style" and learn how to adjust to others’ styles for improved communications. Communicating with Confidence will teach participants to assess the mode of communication (auditory, visual, or kinesthetic) that is most natural to them and learn ways to adapt to others' primary modes of communication.

At the conclusion of Communicating with Confidence, participants will be able to:
- Describe the two-way communication model
- List the three essential components of active listening
- Define the “triangulation” approach to handling difficult communications
- Effectively demonstrate the use of open and closed questions
- List the main communication characteristics of different social styles
