Narrative Post-Production Work
This course is for media production students looking to increase their knowledge of post-production techniques, workflow and the responsibilities of studio positions in the editorial department. Trainees will learn studio etiquette, terminology, narrative post-production workflow and story editing techniques. Practical exercises will include managing RED cinema media, setting up projects, cutting assembly edits, dealing with notes and solving creative challenges, and preparing project files for delivery to other team members, including the sound and color teams. Trainees will acquire the skills needed to be an assistant editor in-studio (on movie and commercial projects).

Who should attend?
Prerequisite: Access to and basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
Training content
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Effectively perform post-production assistant editor duties in the editorial department in a multimedia or movie post studio.
- Develop creative skills to add additional insight and value to the narrative process.
- Interpret and breakdown script notes to appropriately create an assembly cut.
- Analyze material and give creative solutions to technical problems and narrative problems.
- Have a working knowledge of the steps in the post process, from camera raw files all the way through final delivery, in a studio workflow.
- Identify the responsibilities and hierarchy of each position within the post department.
- Demonstrate an understanding of post terminology and process.
- Demonstrate the proper handling and set up of files and projects.
- Demonstrate organizational skills with file management and communication to the post team.
- Demonstrate ability to cut assembly edits for movie and commercial applications.
- Understand the technical aspects of full-res media, proxy files, turnover files and deliverable files.
- Demonstrate ability to interpret and understand creative notes to craft a story in a team environment.
- Demonstrate ability to create basic graphic packages for movie titles and commercial applications.
- Effectively perform the position of assistant editor.
- Can apply for position on Tri-C Film Academy Short Film Practicum.

Certification / Credits
Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion with CEUs.
