Planning for, and Defending Against, Public Works' Contractor Claims
Discover how to navigate the minefields of California procurement code and public contracting during procurement, administration and closeout. This topic is designed to provide persons working in public works construction with a framework for planning for, and defending, common contractor claims on California Public Works’ projects. We will provide a foundational review of the project from procurement to dispute resolution, surveying the current status of California law, as well as practical considerations for project owners and managers. We will review the common claims raised on public works projects, and recommend strategies for managing those claims so as to put the agency in the best position to resolve the matter informally or to ultimately prevail in litigation.
