Program Management Fundamentals - 3-day Training Course
Through this foundation course by Velociteach, participants will gain an understanding of the fundamental tasks, skills and interactions expected of a professional program manager. The course will solidify participants' confidence using program management strategies through highly interactive workshops that allow them to practice and apply the techniques they are learning. This course is suitable for any skill level.

Through this course, participants will learn how to:
- Define key concepts, including a program, program management, benefits realization plan, strategic alignment, program governance, stakeholder engagement, and the program life cycle
- Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of portfolio manager, program manager and project manager
- Review the attributes of successful program managers and assess current strengths and weaknesses
- Identify the 3 key assets used by the program manager to align the program with corporate strategy
- Evaluate a business case, program plan and program roadmap for missing elements
- Describe the value of the program roadmap and how it relates to components plans and schedules
- Practice use of the Program Environmental Assessment tool in class
- Specify the role of the program manager in managing program benefits
- Be able to create a benefits register and use a checklist to sustain those benefits
- Learn how to use a Stakeholder Analysis Grid to effectively categorize and engage program stakeholders
- Apply an approach to capturing, communicating, and managing stakeholder issues and change requests
- Discuss the role of the program governance board and how the board relates to the program manager
- Know and apply the phase-gate checklist at appropriate periods in the life of the program
- Identify the key outputs from the 9 supporting processes of program management and how to use the templates for those respective processes
