Understanding and Complying With the CMS Quality Reporting and Incentive Programs

Gain a better understanding of the CMS Quality Reporting Program, Value-Based Purchasing Program, and other Initiative and Incentive Programs. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) as reconciled by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HITECH) provides enhanced incentives to improve quality and coordinate care both on the provider and payer side. It established the Innovation Center to develop new payment and service delivery models to encourage collaboration and facilitate implementation of programs which improve quality of care in a cost effective manner. CMS also implemented quality reporting and value based purchasing programs, posting results to improve consumer awareness and for transparency. It began other incentive programs and initiatives including alternative payment models to provide more accountability and to tie payment to performance and outcomes. We will explore these initiatives in the topic. This content will explore the game-changing CMS Quality Reporting, Value-Based Purchasing Program for providers and other ACA initiatives and incentives for performance and outcomes. It will also discuss CMS’ goal to move away from fee for service to alternative payment models (APMs) based on performance and outcomes including ACO and other alternative payment models and trends.
