Understanding and Complying With the CMS Quality Reporting and Incentive Programs

The Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) as reconciled by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HITECH) provides enhanced incentives to improve quality and coordinate care both on the provider and payer side. It established the Innovation Center to develop new payment and service delivery models to encourage collaboration and facilitate implementation of programs which improve quality of care in a cost effective manner. CMS also implemented quality reporting and value based purchasing programs, posting results to improve consumer awareness and for transparency.
