Course description

Principles of Stabilization and Control
This course covers defensive tactics that go beyond proxemics and basic personal protection.
The first level of this course emphasizes using the lowest level of intervention, minimizing the length of the intervention, and the use of team tactics. This is a hands-on course that teaches how to mesh verbal skills with physical alternatives in situations when an individual is physically acting out and physical engagement cannot be prevented (non-escalation), avoided (de-escalation) or disengaged from.
The second level of this course covers physical alternatives that are more intrusive (e.g., defensive tactics, handcuffing, non-lethal weapons) for use in situations where individuals are placed in physical danger and there is a need for immediate and aggressive action to keep everyone safe.
