Your people are the most valuable asset in business, and people are diverse. Some people are Black, Brown, short, heavy, immigrant, wheelchair dependent, Muslim, poor, young, LGBTQ, and the list goes on. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all people, just like you and me. If the differences you see in people make you uncomfortable, ask yourself, “is it them or is it me?”
If you are not comfortable with the differences you see in people, they may get in the way of your ability to create an inclusive environment. As leaders and organizations, we move the mark when we become comfortable with our discomfort.
