This four-hour course focuses on the Preparation of Contract Documents for Highway and Traffic Engineers. It is extremely important for highway and traffic engineers to be able to adequately inform contractors regarding what is to be left as is, and what is to be constructed, removed, or replaced. The course focuses on the items to be placed on the contract plans and specifications that are required in order to build and construct an intersection, with or without traffic signals. The proper presentation of the contract plans and specifications facilitates bidding and the time required for construction.

Participants of this course will learn to avoid a number of situations where information has not been accurately placed on the plans, which could be the basis of a lawsuit.

At the conclusion of this course the student will:

  • Be able to better prepare accurate contract plans and specifications
  • Understand the need to show all existing above ground and below ground utilities
  • Better understand the needs of the contractor in order to properly complete his work according to the contract plans and specifications
