Overview
Credit: 1 PDH
Length: 30 pages
An overloaded crane will tip over and fall. However, overloading a crane is almost entirely avoidable with proper planning. Lifting with cranes, gantries, and derricks is an everyday activity in maintenance and construction. As such, many contractors and owners now require lift planning for lifting activities and even analysis by a licensed engineer.
This course is an introduction to lift planning that will cover standard concepts and practices when considering cranes and rigging. A high-level overview of OSHA standards, crane selection utilizing load charts and range diagrams, and simple analysis of rigging are covered. The course also includes commonly encountered hazards and a sample lift plan for review.
