Course description

engineer in tunnel

In Industrial Fan Fundamentals , you'll learn ...

  • The various types of centrifugal and axial fan types
  • Factors to consider as part of the fan selection process
  • The meaning of different points on a fan curve, including the BEP and region of instability
  • What is the "system effect" that results from the interaction of system components

Overview

Credit: 5 PDH

Length: 56 pages

The most suitable fan for a particular application is dependent upon many factors. Initial cost, efficiency, operating and maintenance costs, speed, materials, space constraints, flow rate, pressure, temperature, cleanliness of the product and the range of operating conditions are all considerations in the selection of a fan and driver. Improper selection of the fan/driver can result in higher operating and maintenance costs that far exceed the initial capital cost of the fan and duct system.

In this course, the student will learn the fundamentals of axial and centrifugal fans used in industrial applications and the factors that influence the selection of fans, drivers, flow control devices and other components of a fan system.
