Higher Level Teaching Assistant Certificate Level 4 RQF
A higher level teaching assistants (HLTA) does all the things that regular teaching assistants do, but the biggest difference is the increased level of responsibility within the classroom. As an HLTA, you will be responsible for ‘stepping in’ if a teacher needs to be away from the classroom for a period, and whilst a qualified teacher is sought to provide cover.
Gaining HLTA status is a recognised progression route for school support staff. HLTAs work closely with teachers to raise standards and help each student reach their full potential.
This nationally recognised Ofqual approved level 4 qualification, is aimed at people employed in a teaching assistant role who wish to progress to become a higher level teaching assistant and also to demonstrate that they are capable of achieving HLTA status.
The purpose is to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to address the challenges that they meet in their workplace. They will also develop an understanding of the knowledge required to support individuals and small groups and to support individuals with a range of additional needs.
Please Note: a work placement of at least 50 hours is required to complete this option.
