In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Re-engage team members who are hostile, escalated, withdrawn, or shut down

Through guided instruction, practical exercises, group discussions, and role-plays, you will learn effective strategies you can use immediately in the workplace.

Course Details:

In the 2-day Mastering Emotional Connection (EmC) Course, you will learn how to create a psychologically safe team environment, resolve conflict, work with emotion based on the proven science of attachment theory, reconnect disengaged team members, and successfully lead your organization through emotionally challenging situations.

In the optional 3rd day of EmC Train-the-Trainer certification, you will learn how to facilitate EmC training sessions with your own team.

Attendees receive ICF, SHRM, and HRI recertification credit hours.

Mastering Emotional Connection (EmC Course)

This course will teach participants how to:

  • Create psychological safety and resolve conflict
  • Identify the emotional cues hidden beneath surface arguments
  • Re-engage team members who are hostile, escalated, withdrawn, or shut down
  • Repair relationships and restore workplace productivity

Day 1

Experience Mastering Emotional Connection

  • Discover emotional connection — the attachment-based model, the emotional connection is the most powerful motivational force to change the pattern of interaction that works with our nature.
  • Learn why emotional connection matters — role plays and practical skills in action will help you translate the process of connection for enhancing relationships at all levels in your organization.
  • Learn to use a map of relationships — a step-by-step, repeatable process
    that will allow you to work with emotions in a respectful way by identifying triggers and understanding what people need to feel safe and connected.

Day 2

Learn Practical Strategies and Techniques in EmC

  • Lead bonding conversations — use the Cycle of Interaction worksheet to 
    manage disconnections effectively to strengthen the emotional connection.
  • Increase your emotional accessibility and responsiveness — expand your
    style of interaction and learn to stay emotionally present, creating safety and connection.
  • Learn tips and techniques for using the process and overcome the common challenges and create your own for implementation.

Certification / Credits

After finishing the 2-day course, participants will receive:

  • Level 1 Mastering Emotional Connection (EmC) Certification
  • One-year membership to the EmC Members site at EmC Leaders for members to participate, learn and continue to grow. 
  • 12 HR (General) recertification credit hours toward aPHR™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™ and SPHRi™ recertification through HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®)
  • 12 Continued Coach Education (CCE) Credits toward International Coach Federal Core Competencies (4.25 hours)and Resource Development (5 hours)
  • 12 Continued recertification credit hours for toward SHRM
  • Additional Tools: EmC Training Guide, Trustmakers book, Be Cards
