Performance Measurement and Attribution Analysis (In-House)
Two of the most critical components in the portfolio management process are performance measurement and attribution analysis. As the investing community grows in awareness and maturity, this topic grows in importance. Attribution analysis is so important because it can help in the identification and quantification of the factors beyond any abnormal return, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. This can help answer questions such as was the portfolio managers performance skillful or lucky. This analysis is done over time with Excel spreadsheets in order to follow many different factors that could affect stocks.
In this intense course, participants will get hands-on practice in the application of performance measurement and attribution analysis to ten different, hypothetical funds. The funds will be structured to have many the same complications that are faced in real life. Because of this, participants should be able to use the models to apply all concepts they have learned after completing the programme. Participants will start building models up from nothing using Excel. All participants should bring a laptop.
