Process Basics Learning Path

APQC’s Process Basics learning path is designed to provide foundational understanding and skill development toward proven techniques and practices for design and management of the work done across an organization. The courses include training on process and process management best practices that work across all sizes and types of organizations. You will gain understanding of critical process design practices that not only produce an effective and efficient process, but also make it sustainable and enable both continuous and transformative improvement. The courses illustrate the connection between people, process, technology, and knowledge to ensure integrated and aligned improvement is the result, driving performance and outcomes across the organization.

1. Process Management Essentials | 50 lessons

This course is organized around the Seven Tenets of Process Management. Participants in this course will learn about the process lifecycle and how the seven tenets guide mature process practices; details and examples for each of the seven tenets; and how the seven tenets work together to build a strong process management approach.

2. Process Framework Essentials | 41 lessons

In APQC’s Process Framework Essentials course, you'll explore the structure, core principles, and practical applications of frameworks, with real-world examples. The course covers essential skills for selecting, designing, and applying process frameworks for various value-driven purposes. You'll also learn how to adopt or customize a process framework, including APQC's Process Classification Framework®, for your organization to enhance process management, content management, and benchmarking.

3. Process Design Essentials | 49 lessons

In this course, participants will learn how to design, implement, and manage effective business processes and document critical process knowledge using various tools such as process frameworks, model current and future state, and prepare process definition documents, SIPOC models, and RACI charts. They will also understand how to ensure alignment with organizational goals and create agility to changing environments.

4. Process Improvement: Identifying and Prioritizing Improvement Opportunities | 28 lessons

Learn how to identify, assess, and select process improvements, pick the right improvement approach and manage the change process, and integrate and align different improvement initiatives across the organization.

5. Designing End-to-End Processes | 38 lessons

During this course, participants will learn how to define an end-to-end (E2E) process that leverages the power of a process framework and avoids multiple, conflicting versions of E2E processes and their process components. Participants will leave being able to select an end-to-end (E2E) process approach that fits your organization’s needs.
