Course description
The ISO 9001 standard is part of the ISO 9000 family of quality management system standards that organisations use to determine their ability to regularly provide products and services that meet customer and other stakeholders' needs. ISO 9001:2015, the latest version, has been upgraded with several new elements to move companies to a higher level of excellence. We have developed this course to provide you with in-depth coverage of the revised requirements of ISO 9001:2015 with a solid conceptual understanding. It begins by introducing ISO 9001 and the objectives and maturity of quality management systems. We will outline the reasons for the ineffective implementation of ISO 9000 quality management systems in companies and the differences between quality control, quality assurance and quality management systems. You will study the historical evolution of ISO 9000 and the background of ISO 9001 releases. We provide information on the newly released ISO 9001 supplement, Annex SL and the reasons for the current 2015 revision.
Next, we explore the critical terms and definitions, either edited, modified or considered important for critically understanding the standards. Examine the terminology between ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2015. We demonstrate the seven principles of quality management systems that form the basis on which all the requirements of ISO 9001 have been written. We clarify the new ISO structure, terminologies and concepts cited at the end of the new revised ISO 9001:2015 standards. We review the product and services, interested parties, risk-based thinking, knowledge management and external providers. We share some practical tips for quality management systems auditors and implementers. We address the key requirements of each clause and the implications to organisations who intend to implement them or auditors who plan to audit the standard.
This course provides the ISO 9001:2015 transition roadmap and tips for implementing the revised standard effectively. Analyse the proposed eight steps and the new standard and timeframe to implement an ISO 9001 program successfully. Dr Kamran Moosa, your tutor, is the Chief Executive of the Pakistan Institute of Quality Control (PIQC). He is an experienced researcher and professor, an international trainer and consultant, author and advisor to national institutions in quality engineering and management. He has a wide range of global experience in the industrial, service and academic sectors.
