Course description

This course compares different types of pharmacy, including the community and institutional versions, and examines their roles and responsibilities. We study the four systems of measurement commonly used in pharmacies and explain how to convert units from one system to another. We teach you how to dispense medication, avoid medical errors and generate prescriptions.

The course then identifies common disorders that affect the nervous, sensory and genitourinary systems and describes their treatments. We examine disorders that affect the male reproductive system before covering various contraceptives and their potential side effects. We explore the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal and endocrine systems. The course concludes by discussing the composition of blood, lung diseases and treatments and the benefits of taking vitamins.

The human body is complex and wonderful but can still suffer from grave illnesses without any warning signs. This course trains you to help treat and control these ailments and suits anyone who is interested in working in a pharmacy. We cover human disorders or illnesses and their treatments while taking you through the methods and protocols that every good pharmacy technician should know.
