Course description

The world of fashion is dynamic and very competitive. This diploma course lays out proven strategies and skills to help you break into the fashion and design industry and escorts you through the process of establishing your own label: from the first idea through the production process to protecting your brand name and image and finally to successfully launching your design onto the market.

The course begins by introducing you to some basic fashion principles. We then demonstrate the daily skills that every fashion designer should possess. We outline the history of fashion from the 19th century to the present, which is important in predicting future trends. We then show you how to arrange ‘mood boards’ in order to develop your design. We examine various textile fibres, yarns and fabrics and explain where to source them. The course trains you to complete patterns, structure garments and execute various draping techniques. We identify where to source fabrics and explore patternmaking, sizing and measuring a garment correctly. The course breaks down how to design a ‘garment tech pack’, which is critical to the production process and gives you the confidence required to produce your own clothing label.

This diploma course helps you pursue career opportunities in fashion design by identifying available resources and teaching you how to go about creating, financing and marketing your own clothing label. Sign up if you enjoy following the hottest design trends and have a passion for clothing combined with a creative eye - this diploma and a career in fashion design may be exactly what you’ve been searching for.
